Hiba Lodge is named after Rachida and Abdu’s eldest daughter, Hiba. Rachida has been working in riads for the last ten years as a manager and also a chef. Her dream was to set up a guesthouse of her own and become a Moroccan female business owner. That dream has been realised in Hiba Lodge.
Rachida built the Lodge from scratch using entirely locally-sourced materials. She wanted to keep the essence of Moroccan tradition with handmade rugs, open fires for the winter, a large roof terrace and a bright salon where everyone can meet to eat and enjoy each other’s company. However, she also wanted to incorporate some Western features like the floor-to-ceiling glass giving out on to a private balcony for every room and the bespoke bathrooms. She has kept the style simple with muted tones and luxurious fabrics.
She also wanted to have the perfect place to practice her art – and her art is cooking. Hiba Lodge has not one, but two, fabulously-equipped kitchens. They are Rachida’s kingdom, but she will let you in for cooking classes.
